About Mokbar

Esther Choi is the chef and owner of Mokbar in New York City. Inspired by the time-honored techniques of her grandmother’s cooking, Esther believes that food is the ultimate expression of a country’s culture. From its history and social customs to its language, geography, and arts, Esther seeks to offer guests an understanding and appreciation of Korean food.

Since the 2014 opening of her first venture, Mokbar in Chelsea Market, Esther has been hailed as a “New Rising Chef” by the Food Republic and in 2015 was named “Zagat 30 under 30” NYC Culinary Rockstar. From 2018 to 2019, Choi hosted Eater’s “The Kitchen Gadget Test Show”. Currently, she hosts Get Down with K-Town, a podcast about Korean-American Culture, which features Roy Choi, Judy Joo, Charlotte Cho, Dumbfoundead, and more.

Members of Chef Choi’s Dinner Series receive the freshest Korean cuisine that is created from local and seasonal ingredients, to ensure that everything is sustainable, healthy, and delicious. Every dish is created from the bottom up with the utmost care. The mother broth used with traditional Korean ingredients is the base of all Mokbar’s ramen and gives an intense depth of flavor. Almost every sauce includes gochujang, a traditional Korean red chili paste that is one of the most crucial ingredients to Korean cuisine. Hand-pulled noodles are selected to combine all of this magic together and give you the unbeatable, Chef Choi’s Dinner Series.

What You’ll Get

A rotating monthly menu from Chef Choi that constantly evolves with the seasonal ingredients available, to give you nothing but the freshest and most authentic Korean dishes. Your membership also includes a monthly assortment of pantry items directly from the Mokbar kitchen like their housemade kimchi and assorted sauces and dips to accompany your meal.

April Menu: Bossam Dinner

A perfect family-style meal to share with loved ones! Make your own wraps with slow soy braised pork belly and housemade kimchi. Go ahead and dip them in our various sauces like creamy sesame. All means are accompanied with rice.

Future menus may include:

  • Jip-Bap - a featured entree served with rice, soup, and various banchan (side dishes)

  • Korean-Style Craft Ramen made with gochujang pork broth, braised pork, spinach, bean sprouts, scallions, pickled mushrooms, and nori.

  • Chicken Katsu Curry made with either rice or noodles featuring a crispy chicken cutlet, Korean madras curry sauce, scallions, and sesame seeds.

We charge your credit card the day you sign up. The recurring charge is billed every 30 days from the day you signed up.

Can I cancel or suspend my membership?
