About Rule of Thirds
Rule of Thirds is an izakaya, event space, and sake destination serving Japanese cuisine in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The restaurant was founded upon the belief that the most compelling ideas occur at the intersection of multiple perspectives, hence the unique combination of Japanese cuisine and Northeastern regional ingredients, or a tasting of Brooklyn-brewed sake alongside nihonshu from a nearly 500-year old kura.

What You’ll Get
Monthly Access to the Bin Bin Sake tasting room experience hosted by the Rule of Thirds team
Come for a guided sake tasting every month for 2 or 4! Each Bin Bin Sake tasting session is a unique journey, featuring a different combination of five distinct sakes. Our goal is taste a range of familiar and unfamiliar styles side-by-side and provide context about the production methods and the artisans behind each bottle.
Members will take away an omiyage (souvenir) after the tasting. These gifts will always be a surprise, perhaps a crafty ceramic piece from one of our talented friends, or maybe a yummy Japanese snack. Members will also access priority tickets to other Rule of Thirds and Bin Bin Sake events!
Here are some styles you’ll encounter in the tasting room:
Namazake (unpasturized)
Nigori (cloudy)
Jizake (local brews)
Bodaimoto, Kimoto, Yamahai (traditional methods)
All Bin Bin Sake Club members also recieve…
Ochoko from our friends, Felicitas Ceramics
Tea sourced by Kettl in Greenpoint
Edible treats from the Rule of Thirds kitchen or our favorite local Japanese grocers
Tasting notes from Bin Bin Sake Team
Recipes from chef JT to pair with sake
First Access to special events
Virtual sake community to connect, learn & share with other members
